Hospitality Industry
At USA Mutual, we understand the unique challenges faced by businesses in the restaurant and hospitality industry. From high turnover and increased supply costs, to employment practices claims and liquor liability – there are many lurking exposures.
We offer an extensive selection of insurance products covering high profile events, catering venues, food manufacturers for restaurants, fine dining and night life venues.
Liquor Liability: for any alcohol exposure, this coverage is essential to cover you from excessive drinkers and claims that arise from alcohol and result in bodily injury or property damage on your premises or the premises of an event that you are planning.
Assault and Battery Coverage: when there’s a liquor liability exposure, this coverage is likely excluded on the CGL policy and it’s important to have it included. For places of business that are open late and serving alcohol, the likeness of a physical altercation, bodily injury and even death is increased. This will cover you for liability on these incidents.
Improvements & Betterments: all the renovations, new fixtures, new furniture and installed equipment that you worked hard to dress up your venue with will need appropriate coverage. The I&B limit is included by request in a Commercial Package or Business Owner’s policy and is designed to cover improvements in the event of a loss.
Automobile including Garage or Valet exposure: do you offer delivery or valet services? If so, you need to have Hired Non-Auto and Non-Owned Auto liability coverage included in your commercial policy. For businesses like pizzeria/restaurants that generate over 20% of their sales from delivery operations, a separate policy may be required.
Workers’ Compensation: While the General Liability policy does provide coverage for “bodily injury”, it EXCLUDES “bodily injury to an employee”. This is where Workers Compensation insurance comes in. Your payroll exposure will be rated based on the role of your employees. We’ll make sure that the payroll is allocated correctly and that you have the best rate available to you.
Business Interruption: this is coverage for operating expenses, restoration costs and ordinary income you would have generated in the event of a covered loss when your normal place of business becomes inhabitable.
Food Contamination: power outages and equipment breakdown in result of a covered loss may cause your entire inventory of food to go bad. This will reimburse expenses to re-purchase your spoiled inventory so it’s important to keep invoices and records of everything at all times.
Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI): in the fast-paced environment of the hospitality industry, employees can easily take offense to how employers are managing them. Claims of wrongful employment acts, wage and hour disputes, discrimination, wrongful termination can all come up and this policy will help you defend what could end up being a costly legal battle.
